The title of this piece comes from a Spoon song, "Underdog". The "Underdog" featured in this painting is a long-closed corner store, but the historic sign dating from 1907 is preserved by the city of San Francisco.

The lyrics that strike me most in Underdog are: 'I want to forget how convention fits / but can I get out from under it? / can I cut it out of me? / Whoa-oh-oh-oh". I have similar lamentations (sans melodic wailing).

This original acrylic painting on canvas measures 20 in. high x 16 in. wide. The canvas is 1.5 in. deep, and the edges are painted black. All of my original paintings are signed on the back. Your painting will arrive wired and ready to hang as-is, or you can add a frame later. I recommend
